Dungeon Crawl Stone Soup ( DCSS) is a free and open source roguelike computer game and the community-developed successor to the 1997 roguelike game Linley's Dungeon Crawl, originally programmed by Linley Henzell. If a character has a Zealot background ( Beserker, Abyssal Knight, Chaos Knight, Death Knight, Priest or Healer), they start with a god based off that background. Only one god can be worshiped at a time and most gods punish those who leave them, so make a wise choice. The number of summons a player can have is only limited by max magic, with a cap of 20 total summons. If you release a summon, all of the magic used to summon it is returned. There are 18 gods, each providing powerful benefits to their worshipers, but punishing those who violate their commandments. Added a 'release summons' ability, so you can free up your magic if you no longer need those summons. Gods are an important part of Dungeon Crawl.
